Immersive Technology at Mid-Pacific
Combining the core components of Mid-Pacific’s technology vision – Computational Thinkers, Digital Storytellers, and Engineers – the Immersive Technology program introduces students to a concept coined by Autodesk: Capture. Compute. Create. As the only K–12 school in the world using LiDAR for reality capture and historic preservation, Mid-Pacific provides students at all levels with the ability to use innovative and robust reality capture techniques to create digital content in the Humanities, Creative Arts, and Sciences. We believe that with immersive 3-D technology, significant cross-pollination is possible between multiple disciplines and multiple industries. From digital entertainment to GIS/watershed management, from historic preservation to 3-D game environments, we see the potential for this technology everywhere.
Next Generation Science Standards
Mid-Pacific is pleased to be joining multiple schools and states across the nation taking the initiative to create a unified science experience for our students K-12 and no longer has specific biology, chemistry, and physics classes. Throughout each of the Integrated Science courses, students will develop a deeper understanding of crosscutting concepts such as cause and effect and how concepts permeate across all sciences. Making links between all science disciplines and associated engineering principles will help students retain scientific knowledge and skills for use in the future, both at college and in science related careers. Mid-Pacific eXploratory [MPX]
MPX Program is an innovative, interdisciplinary program featuring a project-based community centered curriculum as the primary focus of student work. This curriculum encourages learners to synthesize their knowledge of Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Technology and Engineering through participation in a collaborative “real world problem solving” setting. Some examples include energy auditing on campus and in the community, designing electric transportation systems, creating socially relevant art to be auctioned to raise funds for nonprofits, investigating relationships between Math and Art, producing original plays and designing and constructing urban gardening systems that will be used to grow produce for a cook-off competition. English Language Development
The English Language Development Department (ELD) is designed to assist English Language Learners (ELLs) in becoming productive individuals through a comprehensive, challenging and enriching educational program eventually leading to a fully mainstreamed learning environment. Our ELD program affords ELL students the opportunity to achieve long-term personal, social-emotional and academic success.
An International Student Coordinator works with international students and their families from the point of application to graduation. After placement, students take 1-4 ELD courses per year and progress out of ELD into fully mainstreamed courses when they have completed the advanced level of ELD. Read more.
